Peacock Place and Hide and Seek 2 new paintings

Lately I have been living vicariously through my son Max's time in Florence Italy.  He is there taking an intensive workshop at the Florence Academy Of Art learning the old masters techniques.  He calls me everyday on his way home to discuss what he has learned.  I am so proud and excited for him during this once in a life time experience.  I cannot wait to visit in October and see for myself! 

I am enjoying working in these rich jewel tones.  I am a huge fan of 16th and 17th century classical still life paintings especially Dutch .  I see both of these pieces in a baroque style gold frame.  

I have had quite a few calls for more Tree Of Life paintings but I can only paint them when I feel inspired to do so.  They are coming but at the right time.  Thanks for looking and stay tuned!

On my easel

This is what I've been working on lately.  A large piece 36x48 canvas.  I must admit I'm getting some inspiration from Downton Abbey.  You may recognize the black Chinoiserie type high boy bureau on the right and the wall color.    I still have a long way to go with this piece but so far I am quite pleased with the progress.  It's my  Roman version of a Downton Abbey! Escape from Eden

Things have been crazy lately, but in a good way! I finished this small painting a few days ago and this is the first chance I’ve had to post it.     On another note, my husband surprised me with this book yesterday.  He found it at an obscure library near his work.  I have been searching for it for years, hoping to find a used inexpensive copy with no such luck.  There is was on my coffee table when I got home from the post office.  It's much larger than I expected.     The illustrations are truly magfincant.  Like many people, I have a huge phobia of snakes and bugs but after viewing them so beautifully rendered with such  rich colors and intricate patterns, I find them quite fascinating and absolutely lovely.    I'm not scared!                                                                                                                                                    I am working on a large piece that can be seen in the background. I started this painting well before I got this book, but the book is” A game changer.”   I am very excited to finish it.  BTW  It’s due back in 3 weeks.   

Beyond The Veil

 Just in time.  My son Sam will be home starting tomorrow for five days so I am very glad I was able to finish "Beyond the Veil" this evening.  The colder it gets outside the more flowers I seem to paint.  Here I have combined some of my most favorite things.  This painting is 11x14 done on stretched cotton and linen.  The sides have been painted so no frame is needed.  For sale in my Etsy Shop.

Lady Elaine

A mixture of ideas that all came together in this new painting, "Lady Elaine." I actually knew an Elaine who was in some ways a mentor to me in my mid 20's . She had a great sense of style and really enjoyed the finer things in life. She must be well into her eighties now. This painting is 11x14.

Sailing Away

Well, this will probably be my last new painting until mid July. My son Sam will be home from his residential school for the next 10 days and it's all hands on deck. This new painting is appropriately titled. I love how it came together with all the details. It is 9x12 done on stretched cotton and linen. I will be announcing my July Giveaway either this afternoon or tomorrow. Please check back. I Read The News Today

As I have mentioned before, I grew up wit five older sisters in the 19 60's and 70's. The Beatles were always playing in the background unless my father was home and then it was Frank- as in Sinatra.
Anyway, this new 8x10 painting has a British flare. I feel my work is evolving into something very exciting for me.
