Garden Bouquet

I am very excited about my new painting.  I was very much inspired by the Dutch painter of the late 1500’s  Ambrosius Bosschaert.  Absolutely breath taking still lifes.   I don’t usually do traditional compositions but I really enjoyed painting this vase with flowers.  I may do a few more.  This painting is 11x14 painted on stretched canvas.   The sides have been painted so no frame is needed.

Designer's Workshop

Finally Finished.  The inspiration  behind this painting.............
After being interviewed by Linda Merrill for her magazine, "Surrounding"  I began to think back on my days in the mid 80's as a clothing buyer, taking the shuttle to New York City, going to all the beautiful showrooms and dreaming about being an actual fashion designer.
That's where the idea for this painting came from.  I am still very much interested in textile design and I'm working on some very interesting designs also.
A few details about some of the items in this painting.  The beautiful yellow Chinoiserie desk I  saw on First Dibs, the botanical dress is just something I created out of my love of pattern and color as well as the high heel pattern on the bench.   I think lilies of the valley are the prettiest little flowers,  I often include them in my paintings  because they remind me of my back yard growing up. Happy Spring!   Catherine

Magical Thinking

My studio is freezing these days.  Maybe it's because we live in a 100 year old house with some of the original windows.  You think?   I managed to finish this painting today with frozen toes and finger tips.  I need to get a small heater I suppose.  I have always been interested in textile design which is where the inspiration for this piece come from.  I love the abstract nature and movement.  It is 11x14 painted on stretched canvas.  For sale in my Etsy shop.

Long And Winding Road

This painting is also 9x12 on primed stretched linen. This painting is part of a new collection of work I am very excited about. I love how colors make each other look. I haven't been a pink fan since the 80's. Put it with the right colors and I am loving it again.
