Air,Sea, Earth
When i paint an interior scene, i enjoy painting the rug design the most. I love creating the motifs and color patterns. I think it was Paul Gauguin who said that everything you need to know about color and design is found in an oriental rug. This is my version of an oriental rug. I included birds, animals, fish and flowers through out the design. This painting is 16x20 done on stretched cotton and linen. BTW I think the angle I held my camera made it look a little uneven but the real thing isn't!
For sale in my Etsy shop.

Ode To Henri
"It has bothered me all my life that I do not paint like everybody else."
Henri Matisse. It's no secret that Matisse is one of my favorite artists. I love everything about his paintings and I draw much of my inspiration from them. This 16x20 painting is my newest piece. Available for sale in my Etsy shop.

Where the heck did that color come from?
I came across a piece of a robin's egg shell on the sidewalk yesterday. The color of the shell blew me away. It was a cloudy day so maybe the contrast made it more brilliant. I couldn't help thinking, where the heck did that color come from?? How did that robin produce such a color? Right now, I am too busy to do the research but I will hold God responsible. I am never disappointed when I go walking. I always find inspiration. It's an awesome thing. Have a great day.

It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors” Oscar Wilde
I 've been pretty busy wrapping things up in preparation for the Beacon Hill Art Walk June 6th in Boston. I will be posting another painting that I am very excited about. ( I think I must say that every time I am about to finish a painting? ) I guess that's a good thing.
Although I sell my work through Etsy and my web site, I so enjoy seeing and meeting the people who appreciate and value art in person. I am looking forward to seeing the people who say things like, "Your paintings make me happy." " I want my children to grow up looking at colorful art in our home."or the people who don't know why, just buy with out a reason, and many other lovely comments. I hope you can join me June 6th, in the nooks and crannies of Beacon Hill in Boston for a day that celebrates ART.

The Sicilian 7
Last November My five sisters and my mother took a trip of a life time to Sicily. We stayed in a villa in beautiful Taormina and took my mother to the place her parents were born, Trecastagni. It wasn't easy getting it all together leaving our husbands, families, children, pets but it was so worth it. Although at the time it seemed so surreal to me, I have wonderful memories. This is one of them. Here we are, The Sicilian Seven, minus me walking down an old side street in Guardia Naxos. I was taking the photo.

Days Of Wine and Roses
I love yellow roses. Although I was quite young when this movie hit the silver screen, it reminds me of my father. He loved Jack Lemon, who I believe won an Oscar for his performance. You see the roses but wonder where the wine is? The woman looking out the window just had a glass or two! This painting is a part of a series of new small works and is 8x10 done in acrylics on gallery wrapped stretched cotton. For sale in my Etsy shop.

Be Still Life
I have decided to begin a series of small test paintings. Some of them will be more abstract and whimsical than others. I am getting ready for my summer art shows, which take up a lot of my time, time I would rather be spending in my studio. Creating small fun works will alllow me to keep painting. This little Matisse-like piece is 8x10 done on stretched cotton. For sale in my Etsy shop.

When We Dance
Happy Tuesday! This is my newest painting. While sitting in my car at a traffic light in downtown Andover, I noticed a group of sweet little girls in their pale pink leotards and tights getting dropped off at the local ballet studio. Some of them were clearly not happy about going. You can figure it out from there.

Something About Andover/SOLD
"Adoption" This painting has been on exhibit at The Illuminations Cancer Center at Mass General Hospital. Today it sold. This painting, in a way, is some what of a family portrait. It is hard to part with certain paintings but it's going to a good home. This is one of the largest paintings I have done. 24x36.
