Full Speed Ahead-New original painting

"Full speed ahead " is inspired by many things but in particular a wedding that will be taking place in Cape Elizabeth Maine at the gorgeous home of my sister next Saturday.   Her husband is somewhat of a boxwood addict but I've heard,  has now moved on to hydrangeas (another favorite)  You can see the ocean from their copula which has an inlayed compass on the floor.  I have been wanting to include a sphinx  and decided this would be the place.  Leo had to be there and my other big cat seems to have shown up as well.  This painting is 11x14 painted on stretched canvas with acrylics.  The sides are painted and it's wired and ready to hang.

In Greek tradition, it has the haunches of a lion, the wings of a great bird, and the face of a woman. She is mythicised as treacherous and merciless. Those who cannot answer her riddle suffer a fate typical in such mythological stories, as they are killed and eaten by this ravenous monster.[1
