I miss Sam the most at night. He's the first thought that comes into my head when I wake and the last before i fall asleep. I can't believe a whole year has gone by since he started boarding at his school. I am still adjusting.
I am preparing for my son Max's high school grad party this Saturday so I haven't picked up a paint brush in over a week. I am so over anxious to get back to my studio. Maybe anxious isn't the right word. It doesn't take much to inspire me so the time off has been good. Plus my house is getting cleaned and organized which is something I would have never done otherwise!
Lately I have been doing a lot of experimenting with subject matter and technique. It's fun and different but I realized that I need to get back to what I love to paint. This is a small gem I just finished.
This is an updated version of a painting I did a while back. I just love everything about Vermeer's paintings. This painting is 16x20 done with acrylics on stretched canvas.
I have been interested in tackling a more abstract type painting involving flowers. This year our garden is really beautiful and I love being able to cut fresh flowers for my table. Looking closely at a flower I am amazed by the design. The complexity, the symmetry not to mention the COLOR! This piece is 16x20 done on stretched canvas with painted sides. No frame is necessary. First in a series of abstract florals.
