Commission

Yesterday I completed this commission for a family in the D.C. are.  It was an interesting piece for me to paint.  I've never done a mountain scene or hockey players or many southwestern patterns.  I enjoyed the subtle symbolism and color combinations.  Client is very happy.
I have 5 commissions lined up !   I do plan on doing some of my own paintings in between.
Thanks for looking

Sea Of Love-Auction has begun!

As I mentioned on Facebook, I have begun working on a series of commission which will keep me pretty busy for quite a while.  I do hope to sprinkle in some of my own small paintings here and there as well. I very much enjoy the whole commission process.  I love hearing about each client's story, their background and what's important to them and how I will interpret that in a painting.
I am conducting an experiment.  Many artists offer their work through auctions.  I am curious to see what would happen with this painting if I auctioned it.   I started the bid at only 100.00.  The painting was listed for 295.00 originally. Painted on birchwood cradled panel, sides are painted and it's wired and ready to hang.  9x12
After seven days the highest bidder gets the painting.
Click the link if you are interested in bidding on it. This could be fun!

The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit. ~Nelson Henderson

My son Sam has been on vacation so I haven't been in my studio except for a bit in the evening.  I've been trying to finish up a painting that is almost done but it's not happening! This is a painting I did last year, part of my Tree Of Life series.  Thanks for stopping by.

Summer reading II~My New Painting

The only  time I am happy that my studio is in my basement is the summer since it is naturally air conditioned.  I love to do  summer themed pieces.  I will be spending some time in Chatham  again this summer. My husband and I are not big beach people but we do love taking long drives and looking at all the gorgeous scenery and old majestic sea house.  The hydrangea and flowers are more vivid I think from the ocean atmosphere.  This painting is 12x16 painted on gallery wrapped stretched canvas.  The sides are painted so no frame is needed.  Wired and ready to hang.
Thanks for looking.

St. Catharine Academy, Bronx

I received an email a few months ago from an art teacher at  St. Catharine Academy, in the Bronx. The school was founded in 1889 by the Sisters of Mercy.  Deborah Ross, who is a Fine Arts Teacher there, told me that she has been using my paintings as inspiration for her students. I was totally flattered, honored and humbled to say the least.  Thank you .

Here is just some of their wonderful work!
